Notarized bill of sale trailer5/17/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() It is all laid out on the web page what you need if no title is available. I own 3 that I bought new from TSC, they gave me a sale title, which I took to DMV who took it and gave me tags.Īlso just bought a boat trailer a year ago with no title, they required a notarized bill of sale and the last registration card from the last owner. If this form is required, fill it out and have the buyer (s) and seller (s) sign it in the presence of a Notary Public. The bill of sale or contract The MVA provides a Bill of Sale form. Most trailers with a GVW under (I think 2,500lb) don't have titles. There is a place on the back of the title for the names and signatures of the seller (s) and the buyer (s), the sale price, the odometer reading, and the date. On the DMV site they have a section for trailers. That way when you go to sell it in the future, the next buyer won't have any trouble, and it will be easier to sell. ![]() Personally even though it will be more work I would get it reg as home made. Doubt thy would let you do one or the other.Īs others have said, reg as home made and go through those hoops. It states both registration card and notarize bill of sale are required. If it was never registered you will have some trouble. Sorry didn't see the post above basically saying the same thing I did. The website is wrong, and they don't care. trust me I fought that 100 times and lost every time. The DMV website says all you need is a notarized bill of sale to register a trailer, however that is not true! You absolutely need the current registration unless you are going the homemade route. Trust me I've registered 20 trailers in the past 2 years some with titles from out of state, some with registrations, some with nothing at all. Reality is you may or may not need his depending on who you get at the DMV. There is a list on the DMV website stating what you need to bring (receipts of all material etc). You will need BOTH in order to register a trailer.Ģ. When you purchase the trailer make sure you get the current registration and a notarized bill of sale from the seller. There are two options to register a trailer and two options only:ġ. Registration acts as proof of ownership and a notarized bill of sale acts as proof of sale. ![]()
